GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota will host the 2010 Great West Conference Tennis Championship from Apr. 30 to May 1, highlighting the team's 2009-10 schedule announced today by head coach Tom Wynne.

It will be the first Great West Conference Championship hosted by UND in any sport and will be held at Center Court Fitness Club in Grand Forks.

The Fighting Sioux will open the 2010 season on Jan. 30 at Creighton and will face Arkansas Little Rock the following day in Lincoln, Neb.

In February, UND will face Northern Iowa (Feb. 12), Western Illinois (Feb. 13), Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Feb. 14), Utah State (Feb. 19), Idaho State (Feb. 20) and Weber State (Feb. 21). The Sioux will close out the month with their first home match of the season on Feb. 26 when they host St. Cloud State at Center Court Fitness Club.

UND will embark on its annual spring trip to Florida from March 11-19, with specific opponents still being finalized.

The month of April will include road trips to Air Force (Apr. 9), Northern Colorado (Apr. 10), Wyoming (Apr. 11) and South Dakota (Apr. 17).

The Sioux will open the fall practice season against South Dakota in Pierre, S.D., from Sept. 25-27. UND will then travel to Creighton (Oct. 2-4) and Western Illinois (Oct. 9-11) for their final fall tune-ups.

UND returns three letterwinners from last year's team: seniors Katie Callison (Mesa, Ariz.) and Brynne Wischer (Grand Forks) and sophomore Tiffany Reisenauer (Dickinson, N.D.). The Sioux also welcome back senior Emma Larson (Hustad), who did not compete in 2008-09. Callison and Larson will serve as team co-captains in 2009-10.

Wynne is in his 19th year at the helm of the Sioux tennis program.
