GRAND FORKS, N.D.--A non-NCAA fall season is a new way of life for the Fighting Sioux tennis team, a necessity borne out of the transition to Division I.

But if this fall is any indication, head coach Tom Wynne's squad is adjusting quite nicely (see results, top of page).

The Sioux, who went 10-10 last season in the first year of Division I play, completed their last of three fall meets last weekend at Western Illinois. UND now returns to the daily grind of practice and workouts until the season officially kicks off on Jan. 30 at Creighton.

Although Wynne and the Sioux inherit five freshmen this season, it will be UND's three seniors leading the way in 2010. Katie Callison (Mesa, Ariz.) and Brynne Wischer (Grand Forks) are back from last year's team, while the Sioux also welcome the return of senior Emma Larson (Hustad), who rejoined the squad this fall after sitting out last season. A former North Central Conference champion in singles and doubles play, Larson will provide added experience at the top of the roster.

Callison and Larson will serve as team co-captains.

Sophomore Tiffany Reisenauer (Dickinson, N.D.) is also back after competing in every meet for UND last season as a freshman.

The Sioux will make their 2010 home debut on Feb. 26 against old NCC foe St. Cloud State.

UND and Grand Forks will also be the site of the 2010 Great West Conference Tennis Championship, scheduled for April 30 to May 1 at Center Court Fitness Club.
