HOUSTON, Texas – Senior Jessica Clausnitzer (Bismarck, N.D.) claimed a first place finish in the pole vault Saturday as the Fighting Sioux women’s track and field team tied for fourth place finish at the Great West Conference Outdoor Championships.

 

Clausnitzer, a two-time All-American soared to a height of 3.75 meters in the event to capture the first place finish on Saturday. Teammate Kayla Pfau (Jr., Minot, N.D.) finished third (3.55 meters) while Kate LaRoche (Jr., Faribault, Minn.) took fourth.

 

Sophomore Jessica Butler (Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of :15.31. Clausnitzer crossed the line 17 hundredths of a second later to claim fifth place in the event.

 

Brittany Brenny (Jr., Staples, Minn.) followed up her third place finish in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday with a second place finish in the 5,000-meter on Saturday in a time of 17:29.86.

 

Meghan Enabnit (Fr., Carmichael, Calif.) ran her way to a fifth place finish in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:23.20. Enabnit’s time was over one second faster than seventh place finisher and teammate Emily Emerson (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn.). Lori Benke (Jr., Jamestown, N.D.) finished ninth in the race (2:26.06).

 

Emerson came back strong in the 1,500-meter run by running to a second place finish in a time of 4:45.03. Kristi Dahlheimer (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) finished the race in a time of 4:56.08 for eighth place while Katherine Enabnit (Fr., Carmichael, Calif.) took 10th (4:58.36).

 

The women’s 4x400 meter relay of Cheri Boyer (Fr., Barney, N.D.), Meghan Enabnit, Maria Sundsted (Fr., Westby, Mont.) and Mandy Gefroh (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) captured a fourth place finish in the event in a time of 4:09.88, while the 4x100 meter relay team of Rachael Fashant (So., Eagan, Minn.), Boyer, Sara Carpenter (Jr., Grand Forks, N.D.) and Butler finished sixth (:50.62).

 

Sarah Erickson (Fr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) led the way for the Fighting Sioux in the high jump, tying for seventh place with a jump of 1.50 meters. Butler finished 10th in the event.

 

Sarah Fegley (So., Berthhold, N.D.) captured a third place finish in the triple jump (11.63 meters) while Mikaela Hirst (Fr., Bismarck, N.D.) finished ninth (10.98 meters) and Carpenter took 11th (10.61 meters).

 

After finishing ninth in the shot put on Friday, Brooke Biederstedt (Fr., Dickinson, N.D.) came back to take 12th in the discus throw on Saturday.

 

The meet, which was held at the Rice University Track and Field Stadium in Houston, featured seven participating teams: Chicago State, North Dakota, University of Texas-Pan America, Utah Valley, Houston Baptist University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and South Dakota.
