GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota head men’s basketball coach Brian Jones announced the addition of Aaron Anderson (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Troy Huff (Milwaukee, Wis.) to the Fighting Sioux program on Thursday as both players signed National Letters of Intent.
“We are excited about the additions of Troy and Aaron to the Fighting Sioux family,” Jones said. “They both make our program better as we move through this transition to Division I. We needed to add versatility and athleticism to our guard play after losing three senior guards from last year's team. We are excited they chose to continue their growth as young men in our program."
Anderson is a 5-foot-10 point guard from Brooklyn Park, Minn., where he helped guide Osseo High School to a 29-3 overall record and a runner-up finish in the 2009 Minnesota Class 4A State Tournament. Anderson was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts.
As a junior, he ranked second on the team in scoring (9.6 ppg), assists (2.6) and steals (1.9) en route to earning All-Northwest Suburban Conference honors. He reached double figures in scoring on 16 occasions, including a season-high 20 points against Forest Lake. Anderson played AAU basketball for Minnesota’s Pump ‘n Run team.
Huff is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Milwaukee, Wis. A three-year starter for Brookfield Academy, he averaged 16.2 ppg as a junior and was named second team all-league for the Southern Division of the Midwest Classic Conference.
Ranked No. 15 among Wisconsin high school players in the class of 2010 by Wishoops.net, Huff averaged 17.1 ppg as a sophomore and played his AAU basketball for Wisconsin’s Playground Elite team.
Anderson and Huff will join a UND program that will be in its third year of transition to Division I basketball at the start of the 2010-11 season.
