Happy New Year!
Hope the resolutions are going well for all, and 2009 is starting off with a bang.
We are on another road trip, this time making stops at the states of New York, Vermont, and Texas. It is definitely different—each state having a little different culture and society than the last.
One thing we haven’t gotten used to is the stares we get from people at airports—almost gawking. They first ask where we are from, and after we reply, “North Dakota,” they always look shocked, and ask, “Doesn’t it get COLD up there?”
One other thing we have experienced a lot this year are travelers trying to guess which sport we play, almost as if it were a game. We have heard everything from volleyball to hockey, from soccer to cheerleading; believe it or not, we have even been asked if we are a wrestling team! Basketball is nearly never the first guess.
As I have already said, we miss our fans. We wish you all could share this experience with us, but because you can’t, this blog will allow me to bring some of our experiences to you!
Considering it is the New Year, I thought it would be fitting to do some sort of “Top Five of 2008,” or the first half of our season.
I asked the girls about the top five facilities we have played in, their top five most memorable experiences, and the top five best road games we have played.

Green Bay - Kress Center |
|
 |
|
Toledo - Savage Arena |
|
 |
|
Arkansas - Bud Walton Arena |
|
 |
|
Wyoming - Arena Auditorium |
|
 |
|
Iowa State - James H. Hilton Coliseum |
|
 |
Top Five Facilities:
1. Green Bay
2. Toledo
3. Arkansas
4. Wyoming
5. Iowa State
Top Five Experiences:
1. Bowling as a team
2. Game against Huston Baptist—it was a tough road game but they are our new rivals in the Great West Conference.
3. Making an attempt to go to the Grand Canyon (it was closed, however, so we only got to watch the movie!)
4. Beating our first Division I opponent at home—Eastern Michigan!
5. BUSSING with the team—we like to fly but we missed bussing. It was fun to buss all the way to and from Iowa where we watched movies and the show Friends.
Top Five Road Games:
1. Arizona (our first road win)
2. Lamar
3. Northwestern
4. Arkansas
5. Huston Baptist (We are excited to have them come here!)
Thanks for tuning in, and our next two home games are coming up! We play against Sioux Falls at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and then follow with South Dakota on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The USD game is an important doubleheader for not only the teams, but the fans as well. The game is part of the NCAA Pack the House Challenge, a nationwide “dare” to break attendance records. We ask that all of you come watch us and the men take on the Coyotes and set a new Betty record!
Until next time, take care!
