GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota head men’s track and field coach Michael Grandall announced today that seniors Mark Barclay, Travis Schultz and Nicholas Wilkens have been named team captains for the 2010 season.

“We’re looking for leadership from our upperclassmen, both on and off the track, and these three student-athletes certainly provide that for us,” said Grandall.

Barclay, a mid-distance runner from Grand Forks, was a member of UND’s runner-up entry in the 4x400-meter relay at the 2009 Great West Conference Indoor Championship and placed fifth in the 400-meter dash. At the GWC Outdoor Championship, he placed fourth in the 4x400 relay, fifth in the 4x100-meter relay and sixth in the 400-meter dash. Barclay was also named to the 2009 Great West All-Academic Winter/Spring team.

Schultz, a thrower from Lakeville, Minn., placed fifth in both the shot put and the discus at the 2009 GWC Outdoor Championship. He also garnered top-10 finishes in the shot put (seventh) and weight throw (ninth) and the conference indoor meet.
