KANSAS CITY, Mo.--In its final competition of the fall season, the Fighting Sioux men's golf team is in 13th place heading into tomorrow's final round of the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, hosted by Missouri-Kansas City at the Blue Hills Country Club.
UND shot 655 (326-329) over the opening two rounds on Monday.
Central Arkansas (292-290=582), with three golfers among the top seven, sits atop the team standings with a 10-stroke lead over second-place over Wichita State.
Wichita State's Dustin Garza leads the field with a four-under 140 (72-68).
The Sioux were led by freshman Alex Robb (Chanhassen, Minn.), who was tied for eighth place after firing an opening-round 74. A second-round 79, the lowest on the team, dropped Robb to a tie for 27th heading into tomorrow.
Robb was the only Sioux to break 80 in either round on the 7,351-yard, par 72 course.
Two of Robb's teammates, Tyler Monda (So., Brainerd, Minn.) and Dustin Steiner (Sr., Fargo, N.D.), each shaved four strokes off of their scores during second-round play. Monda opened with an 84 in the first round and followed with a second-round 80. Steiner carded a second-round 81 after opening with an 85.
Sophomore Patrick Thomas (So., Fargo, N.D.) and freshman Nick Schaefer (Fr., Grand Forks) are also competing for the Sioux.
Tuesday's final round begins at 9 a.m. at the Blue Hills Country Club.
