GRAND FORKS, N.D.--University of North Dakota head men's cross country and track and field coach Mike Grandall announced today the 2009 cross country schedule.
The Fighting Sioux will open the 2009 season by hosting the annual Ron Pynn Classic at the Ray Richards Golf Course in Grand Forks. South Dakota State and North Florida will also compete in the meet.
UND will travel to Lincoln, Neb., on Sept. 19 to take part in the Woody Greeno Invitational, hosted by the University of Nebraska.
Following a week off, the Sioux will return to action at the South Dakota State Classic (Oct. 3), USD's Tim Young Open (Oct. 9) and the University of Arkansas' Chile Pepper Invitational.
Following one final open week, UND will chase its first Great West Conference championship at the conference meet hosted by New Jersey Tech on Oct. 31 in New York's Van Cortlandt Park.
Grandall is entering his 28th season as head coach of UND's men's cross country and track and field teams. Last season, UND's first as a Division I program, Grandall guided the Fighting Sioux to a sixth-place finish at the inaugural Great West Conference Cross Country Championship.
