LaBlanc paces Sioux men’s cross country team at SDSU Classic

BROOKINGS, S.D. - North Dakota junior Josh LaBlanc put forth an outstanding showing on his way to an eighth-place finish today at the South Dakota State Classic at the Edgebrook Golf Course.

LaBlanc, a native of International Falls, Minn., recorded a time of 26:15.7 in a race that feature 113 runners. It was the third time in as many meets this season LaBlanc led the way for UND.

The Sioux finished seventh in the team standings with 193 points.

Host SDSU took first place with a team score of 25, placing five runners among the top seven finishers. Nebraska-Kearney (67), Minnesota State (87), Kansas State (110) and North Dakota State (118) rounded out the top five, while South Dakota (150) took sixth place.

Minnesota State senior James Krajsa took individual medalist honors with a time of 25:32.3.

UND senior Kyle Rosseau (Eagan, Minn.) joined teammate LaBlanc in the top 30, finishing 29th with a time of 27:07.3

Tyler Rose (So., Brainerd, Minn.), Jeremy Jones (Sr., Grand Forks), David Niday (Fr., Richfield, Minn.), Cory Absey (Jr., Grand Forks) and Carl Sedgeman (So., Sauk Centre, Minn.) also ran for the Sioux, placing 45th, 53rd, 58th, 61st and 63rd, respectively.

The Sioux return to action next Friday (Oct. 9) at the Tim Young Open hosted by South Dakota in Vermillion.
