Grand Forks, N.D. - The University of North Dakota women's golf team will open its 2009 season on Friday when it hosts the only home event of the season at the Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
The three-day duel against South Dakota will start on Friday, Sept. 11.
Highlighting UND's returning golfers are letterwinners: Kristi Lucken (Sr., Fosston, Minn.), Lauryn Job (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn.), Molly Martin (Jr., Ramsey, Minn.), and Chivas Beaudoin (So., Dickinson, N.D.)
Lucken, who was voted all-academic, finished the season tied for 16th at the Great West Conference championship with an overall stroke average of 86.0. She and Job will captain this year's team.
Martin was voted all-conference and finished the season at the GWC championship tied for ninth with an overall stroke average of 88.4.
Beaudoin finished her season tied for 25th at the conference tournament with an overall stroke average of 93.2.
UND head coach Dan Frei is in his fifth season as head coach of the men's and women's golf program.
